West River Forest Residential Addition and Interior Remodeling

This residential project is in west River Forest, Illinois, a near western suburb of Chicago. The addition on this corner lot facing the Cook County Forest Preserve was requested by the client to increase the size of their kitchen and add a primary bedroom suite above. Taking advantage of the full view of the forest preserve, the entry into the kitchen was developed as an outdoor gathering space by incorporating a covered raised porch and an at-grade stone terrace.

The exterior remodeling of the entire house included stucco finishes, new simulated divided light windows and new roofing. The house and kitchen were selected to be on the 2008 Parenthesis Oak Park and River Forest, Kitchen Walk, and the project received the Award of Merit in 2009 by the River Forest Historic Preservation Award from the River Forest Historic Preservation.
